A Craft Beer Revolution
When Vi Packaging started up there were a few well established micro-breweries in SA but overall the progress of the beer market seemed much slower than the eastern states. Then in late 2012 we noticed a change with a growing number of home brewers deciding to follow their dreams. The shift started to change from blokes just drinking “West End” to an awareness of the new types of beer in the marketplace. Beer drinkers wanted to know who’s brewing it and why they make it the way they do. It was then we realised the need to provide craft beer and cider packaging to the market.
Now SA breweries numbers are rising. From micros, to pub and big-scale craft bands. You can now step into a bottle shop or pub and have around 400 SA beers to choose from.
One of our extremely valued customers, home brewer of 30 years Frank Samson, alongside wife Corrina Steeb, opened their brewery in 2012. Prancing Pony and have not looked back since. They have just celebrated 5 years in business and have gone from strength to strength in this time. In January 2015 they moved into a larger premises which can cater for 120 guests, has a dining/tasting room and showcases their colourful beers.
